At the heart of our beloved Morro Bay lies an institution that tirelessly watches over our waters, ensuring that they remain safe and navigable for everyone: the Morro Bay Harbor Department (MBHD). Over the years, the dedicated staff of the MBHD have faced the challenges of nature and the sea with determination and grit. It’s no secret that their office has been their steadfast base, the nerve center from which they operate.
As Friends of the Morro Bay Harbor Department, we’ve always sought ways to give back to these unsung heroes. That’s why the recent Open House event held to unveil the newly remodeled MBHD office was not just a simple gathering, but a poignant moment of community pride and collaboration. Through the generous donations and support of our community members, we were able to contribute a substantial $10,000 towards this remodeling project, providing the MBHD team with a facility that mirrors their dedication and commitment.
The buzz in the air was palpable during the event. City staff, emergency services, elected officials, and our wonderfully supportive donors all converged, bringing with them a sense of shared achievement. Every corner of the refurbished office told a story of rejuvenation and hope, symbolizing a fresh chapter in the MBHD’s journey.
