Two Courses – 2M, 6M & 12M distances

Prone Male and Female Categories- U19, Open (20-39), Masters (40-49), Senior Masters (50-60) Golden Masters (60+)
For each category above, 1) Surfboard or Other, 2) Stock, 3) Unlimited.
The Under 19 division will not be allowed for the 12 mile Catalina Qualifier Race.
The Surfboard or Other division will be for the 2 mile race only. Not to be included in 6 or 12 mile.
SUP Male and Female Categories- Open (20-39), Masters (40-49), Senior Masters (50-60) Golden Masters (60+)
For each category above, 1) 12’-6” or under and 2) 14”
SUP will not be a category for the 12 mile Qualifier. The 12 miler is Prone only.
OC1, Surfski and other paddle craft- Open (20-39), Masters (40-49), Senior Masters (50-60) Golden Masters (60+)
For each category above 1) OC1, 2) Surfski and other paddle craft
The Kayak Other Paddle Craft division is only for the 2 mile race and not the 6 mile
- For the 6 mile race, the age categories start at open. There will not be an Under 19 division. Those under 19 will compete in the Open division.
- 12 mile race is for prone only
The Jesse King Memorial Paddle Race consists of a 2, 6, or 12-mile courses, beginning and ending at the Morro Bay Yacht Club’s facility, at 541 Embarcadero in Morro Bay, CA. The event is sponsored by many local Central Coast merchants & organizations, as well as Jesse’s friends and family. All paddle craft are welcome- paddleboards (prone), SUP, Kayak, OC-1, Surfskis, and surfboards.
This event is a celebration of Jesse King’s life, and love of the ocean. This paddle is meant to be a fun experience for all while acting as fundraiser for the Friends of the Morro Bay Harbor Department and Morro Bay Junior Guards.
Jesse King, a former U.S. Coast Guard Honor Guard and Machinery Technician 3rd class stationed in Morro Bay and a City of Morro Bay Lifeguard, passed away in a free diving accident off the coast of Cambria, CA on July 1, 2009. He was an expert waterman and a tremendous human being who was passionate about the ocean.
PRE-REGISTERED Participants will have access to pre and post-race drinks and snacks and lunch. Online registration closes on June 24th at Midnight. You will be able to sign-up on the day of the race.
Race fees for pre-registration are $40 for short course, $50 for long course, and $50 for day of the race.

All participants shall be appropriately attired for their type of craft and prevalent weather/sea conditions, and must have a serviceable Coast Guard-approved personal flotation device available. Participants not properly attired or without a PFD shall not be allowed to participate.
June is a transition month on the Central California coast so ocean and weather condition can vary. Participants should be prepared for side winds (offshore and or onshore), cool ocean temperatures (ranges from low to upper 50s), short duration wind swell and or large ground swells. The Harbor Department event Safety Team and U.S. Coast Guard reserves the exclusive right to cancel the event in the event of adverse weather.
